The Empty Throne of Blackglass
The Problem (from Reddit)
“Inspired by a DMAcademy thread about players pushing straight to the final boss far too early, this one-shot turns a premature finale into a succession crisis, a mystery, and a stronger next arc.”

Blackglass Keep was supposed to be the victory lap. The tyrant is dead, the table is still laughing about the impossible crit chain, and everyone can feel the campaign wobble because the villain who was meant to last twenty sessions is already face down in his own throne room. This one-shot takes that energy and turns it into a better problem: the heroes did not merely kill a bad person, they blew a hole in the machinery holding an entire region together. Now the dead tyrant's allies, debtors, prisoners, and rivals all surge toward the empty seat at once. The party is not trying to "undo" the win. They are deciding what the win actually means. Problem It Solves This adventure is built for the moment after the party eliminates a major villain far earlier than expected. The Reddit problem behind it is familiar: the BBEG dies in session two, the DM loses the spine of the campaign, and everybody can feel the panic behind the screen. The answer here is not to resurrect the same villain in a bad disguise. It is to reveal that the villain was a node in a wider network of fear, favors, and unfinished bargains. The early victory becomes the inciting incident for a tight one-shot that hands the party immediate consequences, a fresh antagonist, and a cleaner direction for the campaign's next act....
