Backstory contradictions are rarely a lore problem. They are a trust problem. A player made a character they cared about, and somewhere between session zero, worldbuilding, and play, that character no longer fits the campaign cleanly. Maybe the player claimed noble blood from a kingdom that never existed in your setting. Maybe they wrote a history that accidentally tramples a main plot reveal. Maybe their family name now matters in ways nobody anticipated. Ashes of the Unwritten Heir turns that contradiction into a mystery instead of a correction. The character was never simply wrong. Something, or someone, worked very hard to erase the truth and leave only an almost-correct story behind. Problem It Solves This module is meant for the recurring DM headache where a player's backstory does not fit the campaign as written. The Reddit version of the problem usually sounds like, "I let a player make a backstory that doesn't fit and now I do not know how to reconcile it."
